Designs to Fight Hunger Project

Designs to Fight Hunger is a project building structures out of canned foods and cereal boxes.  Working with Old Dominion Freight, Fox 8, and the Salvation Army, the High Point Rotary Club built an Old Dominion Freight Lines truck at Hanes Mall. The result is amazing!  Working with the Furnitureland, Thomasville, Kernersville, Winston-Salem and Clemmons Rotary Clubs, the structure is 18 feet long and 5 feet high using 4500 cans and cereal boxes.  Total raised for the High Point and Winston Salem Salvation Army is $23,000 Click here for the video.

Our President–Don Shaw

As I step into the role of President of the Rotary Club of High Point in July 2020, the world is a much different place than it was only 3 months ago.  The COVID-19 pandemic and the resulting economic fallout combined with a Nation at significant unrest over the death of a person of color at the hands of the police have given me – given us all – pause over how we can make our world a better place.  How can we come together – men, women, people of ALL colors – to make our community the way we would all like it to be?  Harmonious, working for the common good, demonstrating service above self…..

Rotarians embody that noble pursuit of service above self.  Our 4 Way Test of the Things We Say and Do guides both our professional and personal endeavors.  For over 100 years, the Rotary Club of High Point has served our community by contributing our time, talents and yes, money to make High Point the best place to live and work.  Whether it’s raising money for a therapeutic riding center, taking time to read and donate books to elementary school children, delivering food to the home-bound or working to end food insecurity in High Point, Rotary is where neighbors, friends, and problem-solvers share ideas, join leaders, and take action to create lasting change.

We meet as a group each Thursday at Noon.  Over lunch at the High Point Country Club, we have fellowship, fun and hear from engaging speakers on a variety of topics.  We’d be pleased if you would join us.  If you’d like to come, please let us know in advance by sending an email to:  hprotary@northstate.net or by calling 336-885-7240.  You’ll be greeted personally by one of our members and welcomed to the gathering.

Thank you for checking out the website of the Rotary Club of High Point.  I think you will find us passionate about being a productive part of positive action in ourcommunity.  I am honored to serve as the Club President for 2020-2021 and look forward to personally greeting you !!

Christmas for Kids on a String!

Today High Point Rotary entertained 80 children from 19 elementary schools in the greater High Point area.  Children came to High Point Rotary Club and enjoyed a nice lunch and were entertained by Steve Brannan who is a professional Yo-Yo-ist.  He shared a brief Christmas story before they got to sit on Sants’s lap.
